Australia Awards Growler Engine Support Contract to GE

The jet engines for the Royal Australian Air Force’s (RAAF) new EA-18G Growler electronic attack aircraft will be supported under an existing contract with General Electric International Incorporated (GE) that already provides total logistics support for the RAAF’s ‘Classic’ Hornet and Super Hornet engines. 

The Growler and Super Hornet are both powered by the same GE F414 engines, which will now be supported until June 2025 under the recent contract extension worth around $230 million AU. 

The Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group’s Director General of Air Combat Systems, Air Commodore (AIRCDRE) Greg Hoffmann, said this additional support secured for our 24 Super Hornets and 12 Growlers will ensure the. 

AIRCDRE Hoffmann congratulated GE and its subcontractors on the outstanding support they have delivered under the contract since 2008. 

“GE has provided exceptional support for our air combat engines, not only during our Raise, Train and Sustain operations, but also during the increased tempo of the Operation Okra deployments,” he said. 

Geoff Culbert, President and Chief Executive Officer, GE Australia, New Zealand & PNG.said GE are extremely proud to support the RAAF. 

“We are very pleased with the collaboration between our teams and it’s a privilege to be able to bring our expertise to their operations,” he said.
